James T. Webb Scholarship

To support conference attendance for families.

If it is financially difficult or impossible for your family to attend the annual SENG conference, a limited pool of money is available through the James T. Webb Scholarship fund to help defer the cost of attending.  To apply for a James T. Webb Scholarship, please submit a letter following the application guidelines below, and take special note of the application deadline of Thursday, May 1 for the 2008 conference.  Applicants will be informed no later than May 12 whether they will receive scholarship funds.

Application Letter Guidelines


Please include the following information in your application letter:
  1. Names of all individuals who plan to attend the conference
  2. Ages of children who will attend and the type of gifted programming in which they currently participate (if applicable)
  3. Reason each person wishes to attend the conference
  4. Your estimated total conference expenses and which expenses you would like scholarship funds to cover. Please be specific, listing expenses for travel, accomodation, meals, conference registration fees and other items separately.

Funds are limited, so please be conservative in your request so that SENG can support as many people as possible. No family will receive an award of more than $500. Should your family receive a James T. Webb Scholarship, the SENG Board of Directors and the Scholarship Committee require that you write a letter to the Board after the conference summarizing the experiences for those who attended. Your letter may be quoted in SENG materials in the future.
