Empathy 101! Explore the topic of empathy, specifically as it relates to raising or teaching gifted children. Learn strategies and techniques to help ourselves and our families/our students/our coworkers… to shift from a ‘me mindset’ to a ‘we mindset.’ Each of you will with walk away with ideas and approaches that can be applied immediately and can have a positive impact on your world.
Presenter Bio: Kris Happe
Kris Happe is a gifted specialist with two gifted children of her own and a twice exceptional husband. Giftedness, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, intensity and depression are part of the picture the Happe family experience. After 28+ years in education, she has served as a classroom teacher, a gifted education program specialist in elementary schools, as well as a district gifted coordinator. Kris has served on the Minnesota Department of Education’s Gifted Education Advisory Council since 2006. Kris presents to both educators and parents at national conferences like the National Association of Gifted Children (NAGC) national gifted conference as well as local conferences for the Minnesota Council for Gifted and Talented- our parent advocacy group in Minnesota, and the Minnesota Educators of Gifted and Talented. She is a nationally certified SENG Model Parent Group facilitator. Kris is most passionate about redefining potential and our relationship to our concept of potential.
