It’s time to focus the lens on another “first day of school” photo—hair combed nicely, smiles wide and eyes aglow with an expectant gleam for the promise of a fantastic year. Whether you are a teacher or a parent or both, let’s go ahead and make this new year fantastic! Although gifted learners approach the school year much the same way as all students, the world of the gifted kid is always a bit . . . well . . . exceptional. How else can we say it? Mark Hess has experienced more than 45 years of first days as a teacher of gifted kids, a parent of gifted kids, and a gifted kid himself. Come join him in a conversation about the special needs and best expectations for gifted learners.
Topics Include the Following:
- Intellectual Characteristics of Gifted Learners

- Intellectual and Social-Emotional Supports for Gifted Learners

- Starting Off Strong for Teachers
