How do I become an SMPG facilitator?
Those interested in becoming a SENG Model Parent Group (SMPG) Facilitator must attend a two-day facilitator training workshop ($375), which is offered at our annual conference. A training can also be organized anywhere in the country if there are enough people interested. SENG requires 15-20 participants to run a facilitator training workshop.
Does my SMPG facilitator training expire or need to be renewed?
It is expected that active SMPG facilitators will continue to improve their repertoire of tools each year by attending workshops, SENGinars, and other SENG offerings each year. It is also required that facilitators maintain their annual SENG membership (see below)
- Must run at least ONE group
- Must be a current member of SENG
- Must complete at least one CEU SENGinar (offered multiple times per year)- offered at no cost to you if you are a SENG member from a choice of 3-4 options.
*Facilitators may send a portfolio of trainings to the current leader of SMPG training for review annually.
Does my co-facilitator need to also be a certified facilitator?
No, not to begin with, but your co-facilitator needs to read the training book. It is encouraged that your co-facilitator to go through the training as soon as possible.
Do I need a co-facilitator to run an SMPG?
You need a co-facilitator, but your co-facilitator does not need to have gone through the SMPG facilitator training program (can be a friend, colleague, spouse, past participant, etc.). Your co-facilitator must read the training book Gifted Parent Groups: The SENG Model.
Can I run my groups online? How do I become trained to run groups online?
You will need to have gotten your Master Facilitator training and then go through the online facilitator training. All online groups must go through SENG exclusively.
