SMPG: CHANGE

SMPG: C.H.A.N.G.E. (Challenges, Hardships, and Navigating the Gifted Experience) is a 3-week, online support group designed to help parents navigate the many changes and challenges occurring as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This support group will cover topics such as managing anxiety, navigating intensities, and developing strategies for educational success in the home. 

Additionally, any trained SMPG Facilitator with an active membership who completes an SMPG: C.H.A.N.G.E. group - plus one extra training session the week after the group ends - will earn an additional certification (on top of their already-completed SMPG Facilitator Training) that will permit them to host standard, 6-8 week SMPGs online. We hope that this deviation from our standard training procedure will allow groups that were cancelled due to COVID-19 to continue in the digital realm.

SMPG CHANGE includes Online Facilitator Training for trained SMPG Facilitators.  If you are planning to attend an upcoming SMPG Facilitator Training and want to run online groups, you will also need this certification. Facilitators must complete all four weeks of the SMPG: CHANGE course at a satisfactory level to receive the online certification. Decisions regarding satisfactory completion are made at the discretion of the trainer(s). 

Certification will be awarded to attendees who complete all components of the training and, additionally, demonstrate respect for and competence in the SENG Facilitation Model.  SMPG trainers’ evaluations may be reviewed for approval by the SENG Board of Directors.

The essential details about these groups are below:

Cost: $50 for annual members who are NOT participating in the training; $75 for non-members, non-annual members, and participants who ARE participating in the training. SMPG Facilitators receiving certification are not eligible for the discounted rate due to the extra steps involved in the certification process.
