SENG Statement alongside NAGC

SENG

SENG stands in support of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) statement opposing the House Appropriations Committee's legislation to eliminate funding for the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Children's Education Act (Javits) in FY2024. We firmly believe eliminating this funding would have a devastating impact on this population’s education and well-being.

The support provided by the Javits grant is not only academic; it addresses the emotional needs of gifted and talented children, who are often highly sensitive and perceptive and can be especially at risk for social isolation, anxiety, and depression. Javits-funded programs provide gifted and talented children with opportunities to connect with other children like them, develop coping skills, and build resilience. Without Javits funding, many gifted and talented children would not have access to the support they need to thrive.

Gifted and talented children are a crucial component of our nation's future, and we must invest in their education so that they can reach their full potential.

How Can You Get Involved?

NAGC, working with the Council for Exceptional Children, launched an advocacy action campaign for advocates to easily contact their members of Congress and tell them to save Javits funding. Click the button below to make your voice heard!
