January Topic: Therapeutic Challenges in Meeting the Whole-Person (intellectual, physical, social, and emotional) Needs of the Profoundly Gifted
About: Asynchronous development reaches its widest span in profoundly gifted individuals. Early reading and rapidly expanding vocabularies provide access to complex content, while protean imagination, metaphorical thinking, and intuitive insights create a rich inner world. Yet, without the skills to organize and contain these capacities, emotional and cognitive flooding may result. Through a compelling case study, Dr. Grobman will illustrate therapeutic challenges and share both his client’s journey and his own emotional and intellectual responses as therapy unfolded.
